Statement from Assemblywoman Lori D. Wilson on Shipbuilding

For immediate release:

SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, Assemblywoman Lori D. Wilson (D-Suisun City), who represents California’s 11th Assembly District, issued the following statement regarding the growing discussion around shipbuilding in Solano County:

“I am not introducing legislation related to the maritime industry in the final days of session. We regularly work on legislation throughout the year at the request of constituents, and I have certainly heard the strong interest in shipbuilding in Solano County. We’ve received many unsolicited letters of support that underscore how important this issue is to our local leaders and to our region. It is clear that this conversation needs to continue.

“I encourage the County to review the steps needed to maximize our assets and position Solano to secure federal maritime funding and take advantage of the additional focus from the White House. Earlier this year, I was proud to author ACR 83, which recognized the importance of the maritime industry across California, including in my own district. That resolution reflects our state’s readiness to lead, and I remain committed to ensuring California is prepared to capitalize on this opportunity.”
